What could be more beautiful than the white clean beach, warm sand and amazingly clear water? Perhaps everyone dreams of visiting the Maldives or Bali at least once in their lives. But there is another side to the coin. Some of the islands, which are isolated from outsiders, able to store a lot of different secrets and darkest stories about which almost no one knows. It could be a shipwreck, and cannibalism, and even the testing of nuclear weapons. Some islands are definitely "saw" something worse than a nightmare. In today's article we will tell you about three of the most interesting islands that reveal their secrets.

1. thilafushi. Garbage Island

Maldives are considered to be a tropical paradise on Earth. Just imagine, clean and white sand, well-groomed beaches and clear water. This image often force tourists to the past as much as possible to come and share their money.

Thilafushi - is an artificially created island, which is designed for landfills. Initially, it was made in good order, because almost every week Maldives is visited by tens of thousands of tourists, and rubbish was left of them very much.

In the so-called Rubis island is home to about 150 people, whose job is to sift through the garbage and find out what can be recycled, it is possible to burn, and that can be exported to other countries. Every day, the island is brought to three hundred and fifty tons of garbage, and it's an eerie sight. Unfortunately, a lot of rubbish means that workers need to be less and less choosy when it comes to the fate that awaits the trash. Most of the waste is combusted without discrimination, including electronics, batteries, and plastic, toxic combustion products which pollute the air and water.

2. Island North Brother, the shipwreck of the steamer "General Slocum"

Island North Brother is followed by shelter to so many people because of the tragedy that occurred in New York. June 15, 1904 Lutheran Evangelical Church of St. Mark held its annual picnic. More than 1,000 of its followers boarded a steamboat "General Slocum", to get to your destination. Passengers were mainly women and children.
