Pericles and Aspasia

Pericles was a military leader, orator and prominent figure in the Athenian state machine. It is no surprise that his heart won such a smart and strong in spirit woman like himself. The couple met during a philosophical conversation, and Pericles was immediately struck by the wit and beauty of Aspasia. She was a native of Miletus, and not from Athens, and is therefore able to express their thoughts and opinions openly and freely, and this differs from most other local women. Aspasia almost immediately became known, thanks to his intelligence and philosophical turn of mind, in the Athenian society.

It is known that the wife of the most powerful men of Athens, came to her to consult on various issues. Despite the fact that the side Aspasia strewed many offenses, and around a woman always intrigued, Pericles it did not stop falling in love with her without thinking that only strengthened their relationship. It is known that Aspasia had a lot of supporters, and the most prominent of them was Socrates himself.

Although the citizens of Athens were forbidden from marrying foreigners (Act, which ironically was passed by Pericles before Aspasia entered his life), he loved her to the end of his days. It is said that he kissed her every day until his death in 429 BC.

Giuseppe and Anita Garibaldi

Giuseppe Garibaldi gained fame after a failed uprising in Piedmont. The court sentenced him to death, but Garibaldi fled to France and eventually made it to Brazil. He became captain of the Navy in the small republic, which tried to rebel against the Brazilian Empire. It was during this time that he met Anita and instantly fell in love with her. The woman was already married, and when her husband found out about an affair his wife, Anita decided to flee with her new lover Giuseppe. The woman did not leave his lover even during the revolutionary action, as well as military battles.

On board the ship Anita had even begun to shoot a gun when they encountered an enemy ship. Later, she took care of the transport and feeding the wounded insurgents and even set off alone on enemy territory. During one battle in July 1840 Anita led the cavalry forces of Giuseppe, despite the fact that she was eight months pregnant. Two years later, when they helped Uruguayans oppose Argentina, Anita learned about the death of her lawful husband. After this news, which became joyful for Anita, her relationship with Giuseppe became even closer.

In 1847, they crossed the Atlantic to return to France, where Giuseppe egged patriotic Italians to fight for unification. Anita helped him to recruit fighters and arms supplies. The tragedy happened Aug. 4, 1849, when a woman, who became for Giuseppe is not only a lover but also a real comrade, died from the disease. Although Giuseppe Garibaldi was married again and went on to become one of the founding fathers of modern Italy, the death of Anita, he mourned until the last day of his life June 2, 1882.

Ferdinand and Isabella

Isabella of Castile had never met Ferdinand of Aragon, but she had heard that he was a handsome, educated and courteous man. Similarly, Ferdinand had never seen Isabel, but he had heard about her beauty, charm and sharp mind. They could love each other only at a distance, because the half-brother of Isabella, King Henry IV of, forbade them to meet live. He planned to give his sister in marriage to someone from the French or Portuguese nobility for political reasons. However, true love still took its toll. One day, Ferdinand could no longer tolerate, and whatever was in it, I decided to meet with his beloved.

You did not find it disguised as an ordinary merchant and Isabella Enrique deceived, saying that he wanted to visit the graves of relatives. Lovers successfully met and soon October 19, 1469 married in Valladolid. On hearing this, the Portuguese king, who also claimed the throne of Castile, Isabella declared war, however, Ferdinand was on her side. Eventually, Isabella ascended to the throne of Castile and Ferdinand ascended to the throne of Aragon.

These two went down in history as the "Catholic Monarchs", because it was during their reign the Christians finally managed to expel the Muslims from Granada. Their marriage brings together the lands of modern Spain, and thanks to the support of Isabel, Christopher Columbus was able to go later in his famous diving and discover the New World.
