Bannerman Castle

The Island on the Hudson was purchased in 1900, the year of a Scottish immigrant, Francis Bannerman, who built a castle on it for storing a huge collection of weapons (he earned selling it). In 1918, 2 years after the death of the Scot, available at the grounds of the castle of ammunition exploded and destroyed part of the structure.

The explosion damaged many buildings.

Halsey Hall

Erected in 1890, as a luxury hotel, in 1901, the year it was already closed. A few years later the mansion was turned into a women's college Bennett, but in 1978, the year of school for students from wealthy families went bankrupt because of the promotion of co-education. Since then, the building is empty.


Castle Miranda

Built in 1866, the year of the English architect Milner commissioned by the noble family Lidkerk-Bufort, during the Second World War, the mansion was captured by a Belgian company and converted into a children's home. Orphanage has existed not for long, and soon moved, the local municipality offered to take it over, but the owners refused, so the castle is empty with the 1991 year.

Here, too, partly preserved furniture, but all the rooms are almost overgrown with grass.

Prince Palace Said-Hasim

This residence was designed by Antonio Latsiasom in 1899. Later it was converted into one of the best schools for boys in the country, Al-Nasiriyah. Today the castle is empty, since 2004, it was abandoned for unknown reasons.



Beelitz: giant hospital in Germany

Medical Complex in Beelitz-Haylshtettene (Belitz) near Berlin was built in the XIX century. During the Second World War, the hospital was turned into a military hospital, and there had to undergo treatment wounded in the battle of Adolf Hitler. After the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Germany Hospital came into disrepair.

This is one of the few preserved castles of the time.

The castle is closed to visitors, and is protected by local authorities.
